About Dr. David Simpson

I hold a B.S. degree in physics from Virginia Tech, an M.S. in applied physics and an M.S. in applied mathematics from the Johns Hopkins University, and a Ph.D. in applied physics from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. I have taught physics as an adjunct faculty member at Prince George's Community College since 1991.

During the day, I work a research physicist at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, doing research in space physics (the physics of the electromagnetic and plasma environments of the Earth, Sun, and planets). I previously worked on the Hubble Space Telescope, and now work primarily on NASA's IMAGE and Cassini missions.

I am a member of the American Physical Society, the American Geophysical Union, the American Astronomical Society, and the American Association of Physics Teachers.
